Summary

In the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA), Tanzania, infectious diseases such as Anthrax, Tuberculosis, Brucellosis, Rabies, Malignant catarrhal fever (MCF), and Malaria exhibit significant variability and frequency influenced by environmental factors, cultural practices, and wildlife conservation measures. A study involving 396 households from four villages identified key drivers including climatic conditions, meat consumption, land scarcity for pasture, wildlife corridors, large livestock populations, and lack of hygiene. The research employed questionnaire surveys, field visits, documentation reviews, and focus group discussions to assess these influences. Mitigating pathogen transmission risk requires precise mapping of high-risk areas and public education initiatives to reduce human-pathogen contact.
