Summary

Residents of Porto perceive tourism growth as harmonious with the city, particularly highlighting its socio-cultural benefits. A survey of 322 professionals and residents revealed that tourism development is viewed positively, with the socio-cultural component being the most significant factor in this perception. The study also suggests that place of residence or professional activity does not significantly alter this positive outlook, indicating a broad consensus on tourism's role in enhancing Porto's Historic Centre. This research provides insights into how local perceptions can shape sustainable urban development in UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
