Summary

A rare occurrence of clastic rocks within Triassic bedded chert from the Mino terrane (central Japan) and Samarka terrane (Sikhote-Alin, Russia) was identified. These rocks, primarily composed of basaltic volcanic fragments, altered volcanic glass, chert, siliceous shale, radiolarian remains, and minor polycrystalline quartz, plagioclase, lutecite, and possibly glauconite, were dated to the late Anisian to early Carnian stage using radiolarian and conodont fossils. The clastic materials are believed to have originated from basaltic volcanic edifices such as oceanic islands or plateaus and immature volcanic arcs, likely transported by turbidity currents.
