Summary

Approximately half of the granitic flagstones (udobakseok) at Jongmyo Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Seoul, Korea, are damaged. This study used GIS and GPS technologies to assess damage and identify replacement stones from Seokmo Island, where an estimated 100,000 pieces can be quarried. The research demonstrates the potential of these technologies for systematic management of cultural properties, offering a scalable approach for preserving other heritage sites.
