Summary

Historic Cairo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with hundreds of deteriorating Coptic and Islamic structures, faces significant tourism revenue loss due to closed sites from urban expansion, pollution, and aging. A decision support system inspired by infrastructure asset management (IAMS) is proposed to prioritize restoration funding for maximum socioeconomic benefit. This structured approach evaluates building conditions, unique heritage value, and expected tourism gains, guiding policy makers in rational fund allocation. The model aims to rejuvenate Historic Cairo and boost Egypt's tourism economy, addressing the critical gap between preservation needs and limited resources.
