Integration of Static and Dynamic Spaces in Historic Cairo: A Community Spirit that May Vanish

Historic Cairo's streets, renowned for their intimacy and walkability, are threatened by rapid socio-cultural changes that disrupt the balance between static and dynamic urban spaces. The study reveals that the integration of these spaces—defined by enclosure degree, wall thickness, opening width, and activity nature—is crucial for fostering community spirit and behavioral needs. Through observation, researchers analyzed how variations in these factors influence urban dynamics, highlighting the vulnerability of this centuries-old town to modernization pressures.
