Summary
Heaven's Cave, located within the UNESCO-listed Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in Vietnam, was identified as having significant potential for sustainable tourism development. A preliminary study conducted by researchers from the Karst Research Institute ZRC SAZU assessed the cave's suitability for adaptation into a show cave, considering both its environmental sensitivity and economic prospects for the region. The study involved speleological surveys, mapping, and tourist research to propose interventions that balance conservation with visitor access. While not a long-term comprehensive approach, this work serves as a model for evaluating similar caves in remote areas, offering insights into the feasibility of developing new show caves in environmentally and economically viable ways.
