Summary
A new farmers' cooperative on the island of Ibiza, Spain, exemplifies territorial social innovation (TerriSI), demonstrating how novel social reconfigurations can enhance coordination and efficiency within alternative food networks. This study identifies key factors—such as local conditions, triggers, leadership, coordination mechanisms, and dissemination capacity—that drive socially innovative organizational models among farmers. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research provides an original framework for understanding TerriSI, offering insights into how such initiatives can promote sustainable territorial development in UNESCO World Heritage Sites like Ibiza, where biodiversity and culture intersect with agricultural practices.
