Summary
A study of the Arvicolidae (Rodentia, Mammalia) from the lower levels of Gran Dolina (TD3, TD4, and TD4B) at Atapuerca, Spain, reveals a diverse rodent assemblage characteristic of the late Bihariense (Cromeriense in broad sense), indicating a relatively warm and humid climate during an interglacial period. The research identified six taxa: Iberomys sp., Stenocranius gregaloides, Terrícola arvalidens, Allophaiomys chalinei, Mimomys savini, and Pliomys episcopalis. These findings provide insights into the environmental conditions of the Pleistocene Inferior in Europe, contributing to our understanding of the region's paleoecology during this critical period.
