Summary
A central biogas power plant fed by olive mill waste could significantly reduce Corfu's energy dependence on the mainland while addressing environmental challenges posed by olive oil production. This study demonstrates that anaerobic digestion of olive mill waste offers a viable solution for both energy generation and waste management, with potential economic benefits. By analyzing the techno-economic feasibility of constructing such a plant, researchers provide critical data on its construction and operational costs, highlighting its role in mitigating environmental issues while contributing to Corfu's energy independence.
