Summary

Architectural transformations in Algiers' Ottoman houses, driven by colonial and post-colonial influences, have significantly altered indoor hygrothermal comfort. The study reveals that these changes, aimed at meeting inhabitants' needs, have negatively impacted the microclimate conditions within traditional houses. Using numerical simulation and modeling, researchers analyzed the components of hygrothermal comfort to assess the environmental quality. Findings highlight the need for corrective measures to restore interior comfort in the historic Kasbah of Algiers.
