Summary

A novel methodological framework for urban logistics solutions in Latin America, particularly focusing on Quito, Ecuador, offers data-driven approaches to optimize last-mile delivery operations. The study proposes three key models: location analysis for loading and unloading bays, urban transfer centers, and freight trip generation, addressing critical challenges posed by rapid urbanization. While the solutions remain theoretical, estimated implementations in Quito's Historic Center, Entertainment District, and Corporate District demonstrate potential benefits. This replicable methodology aims to improve freight transportation efficiency, reducing externalities and enhancing logistics planning in similar emerging cities across the region.
