Summary

A new geological map of the Mykonos-Delos-Rheneia Metamorphic Core Complex (MCC) reveals continuous interactions between a detachment system and a growing pluton, demonstrating how long-term tectonics influence discrete magmatic events. The study identifies a migmatite-cored extensional dome with a 500 m-thick low-angle shear zone (Rheneia Shear Zone), coeval with granitoid intrusions ranging from granodiorite to monzogranite. Structural compatibility between migmatites and the intrusion indicates similar rheological parameters during emplacement, while syn-kinematic stretching in the granites aligns with mylonites below the Livada and Mykonos Detachments. The research integrates field surveys of Rheneia and Delos, structural analysis, and kinematic observations to trace deformation from lower crustal partial melting to late-stage baryte-iron dykes, highlighting a consistent kinematic framework until ~9 Ma.
