Summary

Territorial disputes between Bahrain and Qatar, which had been relatively dormant since 1895, resurfaced with renewed complexity in the early twentieth century. This period saw significant expansion of contested areas, including the district of Zubarah, the Hawar Islands, and the shoals of Dibal and Jaradah, along with the seabed between the two states. The study highlights how these disputes evolved, adding new layers to the long-standing tensions in the Persian Gulf region.
