Summary
Research reveals that the Amur River zone, part of the Zhuravlevka-Amur terrane in the Sikhote-Alin Orogenic Belt, underwent a significant counterclockwise rotation exceeding 20° relative to the Eurasian continent during the Cenomanian-Turonian period (approximately 100-94 million years ago). This finding challenges previous assumptions about latitudinal stability and suggests that left-lateral strike-slip fault systems, including the Amur and Central Sikhote-Alin faults, played a crucial role in tectonic movements. The study utilized petro- and paleomagnetic analyses of phase-I gabbrodiorites from the Lower Amur Complex to reconstruct the zone's position and rotational history. These insights provide a framework for understanding mantle material supply channels during the formation of significant porphyry copper deposits, such as the Malmyzh deposit, which is part of the Lower Amur mineragenic zone.
