Summary
A novel approach to geospatial monitoring of historic retaining walls, applied to the UNESCO-listed Debosquette Wall of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, demonstrates that horizontal displacements remained within allowable limits during a multi-phase observation period. The study introduces a method for calculating required observation accuracy using structural mechanics principles, addressing the challenges of non-standardized monitoring for complex heritage structures. This approach, validated through a six-month monitoring phase (2012-2013) and subsequent observations in 2015, is recommended for similar projects to prevent undesirable damage and ensure stability.
