Summary

Residents of the historic center of Yazd, particularly in the Fahadan neighborhood, exhibit a generally positive perception toward tourism development. The study reveals three major impacts: improved physical and environmental quality due to government and private sector initiatives; positive social and cultural changes through interactions with foreign tourists; and increased community awareness and pride in their heritage. However, there are concerns about the potential 'museumification' of the area and the commodification of heritage, which could lead to a loss of authenticity. The research approach involved examining resident perceptions through interviews, highlighting both the benefits and risks of tourism in historic urban areas.
