Summary
From 2000 to 2020, vegetation in Yunnan Province, China, showed significant improvement as indicated by increasing Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) values. However, future trends suggest potential degradation due to rising temperatures driven by global warming. The study analyzed spatial-temporal NDVI patterns using MODIS data and meteorological records from 25 weather stations, revealing a southwest-to-northeast shift in the center of gravity for Yunnan's vegetation. Statistical methods like Sen+MK, coefficient of variation, and Hurst index assessed trends and stability, while partial correlation analysis linked NDVI changes to temperature and precipitation. The research underscores the urgent need to protect Yunnan's ecological environment, particularly in protected areas like the Three Parallel Rivers, which are vulnerable to climate-induced shifts.
