Summary
Context-specific ecological calendars significantly enhance food security and reduce vulnerability to climate change for Pamir Mountain communities. A comparative analysis of two Tajik villages, Savnob and Roshorv, revealed that distinct microecologies influence the timing and practices of livelihood activities despite their close geographic proximity. These differences led to mutual support between villages, increasing food availability and resilience against climate threats. The study highlights the importance of revitalizing traditional ecological knowledge through participatory action research, which can adapt to changing climates while maintaining anticipatory capacity for seasonal changes.
