Summary
A recent study has uncovered three previously unrecorded bromeliad species in Veracruz, Mexico: two Tillandsia species (T. bourgaei and T. roseoscapa) and one Pitcairnia (P. xanthocalyx), alongside the rediscovery of Tillandsia prodigiosa. This research, conducted through botanical expeditions and herbarium reviews, highlights the understudied flora of Veracruz's central and northern regions, particularly the xerophytic vegetation shared with the Tehuacán-Cuicatlán Valley—a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The findings underscore the region's biodiversity significance, revealing new insights into its unique plant communities.
