Summary

A hidden 'Mount Gerizim' linked to Jewish tradition, distinct from the Samaritan site, has been identified near ancient Jericho. This discovery challenges long-standing assumptions about the location of biblical sites, with evidence pointing to a Herodian palace-fortress and tower remnants on the mound's shoulder. The study sheds light on the region's complex history, supported by surface observations and archaeological features such as a blocked well and tumbled walls in the Wady Kelt gorge, which connects the hill country north of Jerusalem to the Jordan plain.
