Summary
A comprehensive study of the moss flora in the mountainous regions of the Pechora-Ilych State Strict Nature Reserve, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site 'Virgin Komi Forests,' reveals 172 species from 33 families, constituting nearly half of the reserve's total moss diversity. The research highlights significant qualitative and quantitative similarities between the moss floras of the Pechora and Ilych river catchments. Additionally, it provides new data on four rare moss species listed in regional Red Data Books—Codriophorus fascicularis, Anomodon longifolius, Encalypta brevicollis, and Lescuraea radicosa—and identifies six species that require biological surveillance. The study contributes to the understanding of biodiversity within this unique European protected area, emphasizing its ecological significance.
