Summary

A study of mid-sized Polish cities reveals that greenery has a stronger impact on land surface temperature (LST) and urban heat island (UHI) effects than building geometry. Researchers analyzed data from Gdynia and Szczecin using a combination of CAD and GIS tools, incorporating high-resolution topographic and remote sensing datasets. The findings highlight the importance of strategic greenery placement in mitigating temperature discomfort, offering insights for urban planning. This work introduces a standardized data grid that objectively evaluates temperature comfort based on buildings, greenery, and LST, advancing methods for sustainable city design.
