Approaches to preserving wooden religious temples in the XX-XXI centuries on the example of the Transfiguration Church of the Kizhi Pogost

A critical analysis of the Transfiguration Church at Kizhi Pogost, a 18th-century wooden religious monument, reveals that its preservation over the past seven decades has required adaptive restoration strategies. The study identifies key challenges in maintaining such structures, including structural instability and environmental degradation, while advocating for a systematic approach to conservation that balances historical integrity with modern techniques. Recommendations derived from this case study emphasize the need for tailored preservation methods, considering the unique characteristics of each monument, to mitigate rapid deterioration and ensure long-term stability.
