Summary

Young travelers visiting Auschwitz-Birkenau often employ imaginative strategies to deepen their emotional and historical connection with the site, shaping their experiences through interactions with historical, pedagogical, and cinematic narratives of the Holocaust. While these visits primarily aim to enhance understanding of historical facts, they also frequently reinforce humanist values, albeit sometimes ambivalently in relation to contemporary society. The study used semi-structured interviews to explore motivational factors for visiting, engagement methods, and the meanings ascribed to the experience by young travelers.
