Summary
A comprehensive annotated checklist identifies 528 vascular plant species in the Sundarban Mangrove Forest of Bangladesh, including 24 true mangroves and 70 mangrove associates. The study reveals a rich diversity with 356 genera across 111 families, dominated by Magnoliopsida (373 species) and Liliopsida (131 species). Notable findings include the dominance of Fabaceae (42 species) in Magnoliopsida and Poaceae (42 species) in Liliopsida, alongside a significant presence of economically important species. Eleven threatened species were also recorded, highlighting the ecological importance of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The research employs taxonomic analysis to document plant life forms, distribution patterns, and conservation status, providing critical data for biodiversity studies.
