Summary
The conflict in northern Mali significantly impacted the traditional Islamic practices and societal structures of the Dogon people, particularly in the Bandiagara region. This study, based on firsthand observations, reveals how the war disrupted long-standing religious rituals and community dynamics, while also highlighting the resilience of local traditions amid political instability. The research employs qualitative methods, including field notes and interviews, to document changes in Islamic observance and Dogon cultural responses to the conflict. It provides a nuanced perspective on the intersection of religion, politics, and tradition in a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
