Summary

Rare acoustic detections confirm the presence of Hoary Bats (Lasiurus cinereus) in Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland. Over 50,000 full-spectrum recordings from 94 sites between 2013 and 2019 revealed sporadic echolocation calls, supporting evidence that this species is an infrequent vagrant rather than a summer resident in western Newfoundland. The study employed extensive acoustic monitoring to document bat activity, contributing to our understanding of the species' distribution and behavior in this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
