Summary
Foreign tourism to Lahore's heritage sites, including the Lahore Fort and Shalamar Gardens, experienced significant fluctuations from 2000 to 2015, with notable peaks in 2006 (21,178 tourists at the Fort) and 2000 (8,558 tourists at Shalamar Gardens). However, a declining trend post-9/11 was observed due to terrorism concerns. Recent efforts by the government and Walled City Authority have reversed this decline, revitalizing Lahore's tourism industry as it emerges as a key cultural destination in Pakistan. The study utilized secondary data from archaeological sources and statistical yearbooks, analyzed via GIS tools, to track visitor trends and assess tourism dynamics.
