Summary
Contemporary transformations in Tabriz's leather and shoe bazaar, driven by modernization since the late Qajar period, have led to significant physical, functional, and semantic shifts. The study reveals that while the bazaar retains its role as a goods provider, it has lost essential functions due to the transition from production workshops to service-oriented spaces, altering its spatial dynamics. Religious activities have also declined, diminishing its semantic significance. Qualitative research with a phenomenological approach identified these changes and proposed strategies to preserve authenticity, align functions with architectural styles, and enhance identity. This study offers critical insights for heritage conservation and urban development in historic bazaars.
