Summary

Dubrovnik's rapid tourism growth, with a 17% increase in tourist arrivals in 2017, has led to significant challenges such as crowding and congestion, particularly in the Old Town and its fortresses. This study highlights that seasonal peaks (June–September) and film-induced tourism threaten Dubrovnik's cultural identity and reputation. It presents measures taken by stakeholders to manage these pressures, offering insights into balancing urban tourism growth with preservation of heritage value.
