Summary
Archaeological research at Neolithic sites in Cyprus reveals significant evolution in funerary practices from the 8th to early 6th millennium cal. BC, transitioning from diverse collective and secondary burials to predominantly primary, single interments for both adults and subadults. The study, based on findings from sites such as Parekklisha-Shillourokambos, Kissonerga-Mylouthkia, Kalavasos-Tenta, Khirokitia Vouni, and Cap Andreas-Kastros, highlights this shift while comparing Cypriot practices to those of mainland Pre-Pottery Neolithic B (PPNB) sites. The research underscores the cultural and social transformations during this period, providing insights into early human behavior and societal organization on the island.
