Summary

Climate warming in the Russian High Arctic is linked to an increase in aphid species diversity on Wrangel Island, as evidenced by new data collected in 2015. Researchers identified three additional aphid species—Brachycaudus rumexicolens, Cavariella aegopodii, and Pemphigus saliciradicis—bringing the total to seven. Notably, P. saliciradicis represents the first record for Russia, while C. aegopodii was previously unknown in tundra landscapes. A significant rise in the abundance of Metopolophium sabihae was also documented. The study suggests that these changes are driven by climate change, with detailed redescriptions provided for one species, Pterocomma groenlandicum.
