Summary

Despite significant advancements, our understanding of Napatan sacred architecture remains incomplete. While large sanctuaries and royal tombs have been extensively studied, recent surveys reveal smaller temples and shrines across known and new sites. However, preservation challenges due to harsh climate, weak materials, and structural reuse hinder discovery, suggesting many sites remain unknown. This study highlights the fragmentary nature of existing knowledge, emphasizing gaps in remote regions and smaller-scale architecture.
