Summary
New research sheds light on the Romanesque architectural and urban development of Banská Štiavnica particularly its early stages. While previous studies from the 1980s and 1990s lacked comprehensive documentation, this study builds upon that foundation to identify and document the oldest burgher and miner houses in the town. Although the research does not yet provide a complete picture of the entire urban area's development, it offers significant insights into the medieval evolution of this prosperous mining town. The findings contribute to our understanding of its architectural and urban-historical trajectory.
