Summary
The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated spatial inequalities, disrupting traditional subsistence patterns, particularly for coastal fishing communities in Cajaíba, Paraty. This study reveals how global economic pressures and local market dynamics have deepened social and health crises among these vulnerable groups, whose livelihoods depend on artisanal fishing. The research employs a critical analysis of spatial interactions to assess the pandemic's impact on community resilience and policy responses. Findings highlight the need for targeted interventions to mitigate the dual burden of health and economic vulnerability in isolated, traditionally reliant regions.
