Grasshoppers of the Andes: new Melanoplinae and Gomphocerinae taxa (Insecta, Orthoptera, Acrididae) from Huascarán National Park and Callejón de Huaylas, Ancash, Peru

A study published in Zoosystema (2011) reports the discovery of two new grasshopper taxa, belonging to the subfamilies Melanoplinae and Gomphocerinae, from Huascarán National Park and Callejón de Huaylas in Peru. These findings contribute to the understanding of orthopteran biodiversity in the Andes, a region with limited entomological research. The study employed morphological analysis, including detailed examination of genital structures, to distinguish these new taxa.
