Summary
Thessaloniki's Paleochristian and Byzantine Monuments, inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List 34 years ago, have significantly benefited from their status, though their full potential remains unrealized. This study evaluates the impact of this designation on both the monuments themselves and their broader urban, architectural, social, and educational context through extensive bibliographic research and on-site examinations. Findings indicate that while the inscription has enhanced preservation efforts and global recognition, challenges persist in fully leveraging its advantages for sustainable development and public engagement.
