Summary

Natural conditions significantly influence the use of space, production activities, and ways of life in rural areas more than in urban spaces. This study highlights how factors such as terrain, climate, hydrology, land characteristics, flora, fauna, and societal development shape human intervention in the environment. Focusing on Gjirokastra, a region within Albania's mountainous and climatically diverse landscape, the research demonstrates that these natural constraints play a pivotal role in regulating rural territories. The study employs qualitative analysis to explore these relationships, providing insights into how natural elements interact with human activities in Mediterranean rural settings.
