Summary

Researchers have identified two distinct new species of Glaucocharis moths, G. triochellaris and G. plumbofascialis, from the Ogasawara Islands, Japan. These species exhibit unique morphological traits that set them apart from other members of their genus. The study employed molecular phylogenetic analysis to confirm the evolutionary relationship between these new species and the broader Glaucocharis group, revealing a sister relationship and supporting the monophyly of the genus. High-resolution images of adult moths and genitalia were provided to aid in species identification.
