Summary
A two-year analysis of tropospheric ozone (O3) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) concentrations in southern Quito, Ecuador, revealed that daily and monthly levels remained below threshold limit values (TLVs), indicating satisfactory air quality. The study, conducted from January 2017 to December 2019, found an inverse moderate correlation between the pollutants using Spearman’s Rho coefficient. Statistical analysis included central tendency measures, percentile thresholds, and multiple linear regression models linking pollutant levels to meteorological variables such as wind speed and temperature. Despite the absence of TLV violations, the research provides critical insights into air pollution dynamics in a high-altitude urban setting, contributing to broader understanding of atmospheric chemistry in UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
