Summary

The Cretaceous rocks of the South Kyzylkum and Nuratau regions, representing the westernmost part of the Tien Shan, reveal a dynamic coastal-marine transitional zone influenced by tectonic activity. This study identifies 18 distinct clastic and carbonate facies deposited from the Aptian to Maastrichtian periods, showcasing alternating marine incursions and regressions linked to significant basin margin uplifts. The findings suggest that tectonic movements played a crucial role in shaping the late Cretaceous sedimentary successions, providing insights into the geological evolution of Central Uzbekistan's Amu Darya Basin.
