Summary

3D laser scanning technology has been demonstrated as highly effective for the preservation and monitoring of heritage structures, offering precise and rapid digital documentation. A case study at Wat Krachee, a Thai pagoda in Ayutthaya, revealed significant dimensions and deformations over multiple scans conducted between 2018 and 2019. The technology's ability to generate high-density point cloud data enabled accurate structural assessment and conservation planning, addressing unique challenges such as intertwined trees integrated into the pagoda structure. This approach supports sustainable preservation efforts led by UNESCO and Thai authorities.
