Summary
The development of Camino de Santiago routes in Visegrád Group countries, including Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, is primarily driven by the entrepreneurial spirit of individuals with direct experience or exposure to pilgrimage. This study reveals that while initial route creation stemmed from personal initiative, later stages saw increased involvement from regional and church authorities. Poland stands out for its intensive development of Camino initiatives within these countries. The research validates the spatial accuracy of these routes while mapping their dynamic growth, leveraging a mix of geographical, historical, religious, economic, political, and socio-cultural factors.
