Summary

A recent study conducted in Bale Mountains National Park, Ethiopia, has uncovered significant new data on oribatid mites (Acari, Oribatida). Researchers identified 71 species belonging to 44 genera and 29 families, with nine species, three genera, and two families being recorded in Ethiopia for the first time. Notably, two new species—Brachioppiella (Brachioppiella) sanettiensis Ermilov n. sp. and Drymobatoides harennaensis Ermilov n. sp.—were described. This research expands our understanding of the region's mite diversity and contributes to the broader knowledge of oribatid mites in Ethiopia, highlighting the importance of international collaborations like the Joint Russian-Ethiopian Biological Expedition.
