Summary
Urban voids, or 'white spaces,' represent both challenges and opportunities for sustainable urban development. Research reveals that these areas, often overlooked, hold significant potential as territorial reserves for functional restoration and reintegration into the urban fabric. The study presents a robust methodology combining historical research, data collection, and analytical tools to map and analyze these voids effectively. Through case studies in Nitra, Trnava, and Banská Štiavnica, the research demonstrates how white space research can be structured as a long-term process involving quantitative and qualitative analyses, leading to high-quality public spaces. This approach ensures increased care and efficient use of built-up territory while preserving cultural heritage.
