Summary
A study on the reproductive biology of Chelon dumerili (Mugilidae) in Senegal's Saloum Delta revealed that females outnumber males significantly, with a sex ratio favoring females at 61.67%. The species' peak reproductive period was identified as March to May, based on gonadal maturation stages and the gonado-somatic index. Males reached sexual maturity at a smaller size (23.6 cm) compared to females (24.5 cm). These findings provide critical insights for sustainable management of this understudied resource in the Sangomar Marine Protected Area.
