Summary
Recent archaeological findings in the Raya-Raya agricultural area of Quebrada de Humahuaca, Argentina, have shed light on Formative Period (600 B.C.–1000 A.D.) occupations in the south-central region. The study identified dwellings characteristic of the local tradition, alongside San Francisco ceramics from the eastern lowlands, suggesting a convergence of two distinct cultural traditions. This discovery offers insights into how early populations shaped the landscape through interactions between these traditions. The research employed a comparative analysis of ceramic and architectural evidence to reconstruct the social and cultural dynamics of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
