Summary

A comprehensive digital documentation of Venetian fortified systems, spanning from Verona to the eastern Mediterranean, reveals their architectural and historical significance. This study combines advanced survey techniques—such as Terrestrial Laser Scanning, Mobile Laser Scanning, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle photogrammetry—with 3D modeling to create an updated archive of these structures. The research, part of a regional project, sheds light on the defensive systems that connected Venice’s 'Stato da Mar' to its Mediterranean territories, including Dalmatia and Montenegro. By integrating historical documentation with modern digital tools, the study provides valuable insights for the preservation and management of these UNESCO-relevant sites, ensuring their long-term protection.
