Summary

Climate change is significantly amplifying security risks in Lamu County, Kenya, including resource-based conflicts, food and water insecurity, pest and disease outbreaks, and rising sea levels. Historical climate data analysis revealed shifts in rainfall patterns and rising temperatures, exacerbating these hazards. The study highlights the need for mainstreaming climate change actions across sectors to enhance human security and sustainable development. Local adaptation strategies show varying effectiveness, emphasizing the importance of early warning systems and informed decision-making. However, limitations in community participation suggest a need for future research to include marginalized voices.
